Kazimierz in Krakow, next to the Old Town and Wawel, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is probably the most important reason to visit its most important monuments and fall in love with intimate streets with a unique atmosphere during your next visit to the capital of Lesser Poland.
An unique jewish quarter Krakow
The route of Jewish monuments is one of two recommended for tourists visiting Kazimierz. The second is part of the so-called the Krakow Trail of Saints, consisting of nineteen churches with graves of distinguished Poles. The trail includes a sacred complex with the church of St. Archangel Michael, Saint Stanislaus and the Pauline monastery, colloquially called Skalka. This is where the crypt rests Jan Długosz, Jacek Malczewski and Czesław Miłosz.
The museum opened in 2004 in the building of the pre-war mill, is considered a special place in the Kazimierz district of Krakow. It task is primarily to save from oblivion and to recognize the heritage of over 800 years of Jewish past in former Galicia. The exhibitions there are nearly 920 square meters of volumes and photo presentations. Exhibitions, meetings and workshops are also organized here periodically. It is definitely worth choosing the jewish quarter in Krakow regardless of the season.
